Our group chose the 1st question of WA2, and we are concentrating on the technology human cloning.
The first article related to this topic that I chose is “British scientists granted license to clone human embryo” from http://www.rediff.com/news/2004/aug/12clone.htm.
It mainly tells us that the UK has made human cloning based on medical researches legal by distributing licenses to relevant organizations. The UK aimed to promote the development of the medical field, and this action surely fulfills the objective to harvest stem cells so as to understand diseases and develop their medical treatments.
As we all know, stem cells are so useful that it allows scientists to build cells of almost any tissue. Furthermore, if the initial stem cells are from the patient himself, the body will not reject the lab-built tissue which the patient obtained from the operation. The technology of cloning is a must of technology development, especially in the field of medical science. All the human beings want to live as long as they can. So, when it comes to the trouble of curing diseases with the only method of cloning, people will definitely choose to learn as much as they can about human cloning and how we can use it to save more lives. Although there are protests about the distribution of the licenses, I believe that human cloning will be used in the right way as the whole world has an eye on the researches the scientists are doing.
The second article is “Is embryo cloning moral?” from http://www.religioustolerance.org/clo_intr.htm . In this article the author gives out positive results and negative results respectively. The advantages, which is mainly concerning the improvement of medical treatment ranging from preventing spontaneous abortions to bone marrow transplanting.
From the passage, it is easy to see that there are so many positive ways of applying human cloning without creating any harm to anyone. Human cloning is sometimes so effective a way to solve a serious medical problem. Thus, why should not we make full use of it just because some so-called moral problems? We all know that it will bring some bad effects to the society but the question is that which single technology does not bring any negative results to the society. As long as we make good use of it in a correct way, it will absolutely benefit every one of us. By making a complete legal system and by each person’s consciousness of obeying it, we will certainly build a more elegant society with less and less fatal illnesses which we can do nothing about.
In conclusion, for the benefit of humankind, we need and should develop the technology of human cloning to defeat the illnesses we encounter and to have more healthy babies instead of sick ones.

I feel that in this post, you have provided too much personal views on the research materials. Perhaps you should just accept the viewpoints of the materials and just decide which part of it is useful to you.
Both the articles have been summarized very well. Are we supposed to give references for blogs also? :) On the whole a very nice post.
i think what we write is a little far from cloning. i mean, for example, stem cells is not strickly a part of cloning.
